Responsibilities:

  • Support the deaf and hard of hearing employee population
  • Coordinate interpreter requests between employees and contracted interpreter agency
  • Work with employees, Program Administrator, and interpreter agency to develop and implement interpreter scheduling system and process for all Puget Sound sites
  • Act as the central point of contact for all Puget Sound interpreter scheduling
  • Work with employees, managers and interpreter agency to resolve scheduling conflicts
  • Process supplier invoices and perform oversight on supplier charges
  • Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics and reporting
  • Coordinate badging/computing account/equipment for Puget Sound interpreters
  • Create and coordinate interpreter onboarding and mentoring program
  • Create standardized process documents for coordinator role, scheduling process, etc.
  • Constantly seek cost improvement and partner with supplier to optimize schedules
  • Act as liaison and technical expert for deaf and hard of hearing employees requiring accommodation assistance
  • Maintain highest personal and professional integrity; lead through company service culture values
  • Perform similar or related projects and program support activities as needed
  • Six-month assignment with potential to extend

 

Qualifications:

  • Communicate in sign language (American, English, Pidgin, etc.) While this is not an interpreter position, the coordinator will ideally be able to communicate with employees directly in sign language.
  • Experience coordinating reasonable accommodations for the deaf and hard of hearing community
  • Understands deaf and hard of hearing culture and unique communication needs of deaf and hard of hearing individuals
  • Experience matching interpreters with unique client communication needs
  • Able to assess interpreting requests to identify appropriate interpreter coverage based on meeting type, duration, attendees, etc.
  • Able to develop and maintain good working relationships and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity
  • Experience managing vendor or supplier relationships
  • Able to maintain high standards of professional integrity and confidentiality
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as a member or leader of a work team
  • Excellent organizational, communication and writing skills
  • Able to communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, management, peers, and stakeholders
  • Able to analyze large quantities of data and identify opportunities to optimize services
  • Able to maintain records and create charts, graphs, tables, reports, etc. to track key metrics
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Able to visit Puget Sound periodically

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s and typically six or more years’ related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
