Director of Logistics & Customer Service

SUMMARY:

With general autonomy, leads the development and implementation of best in class supply chain solutions. Defines and oversees strategic direction with regard to supply chain optimization for the company. Ensures products are available to support all operations. Establishes supply base and manages procurement, materials and logistics processes for optimal business results, including inventories and warehousing. Develops and manages department budget including workforce staffing. Works closely with senior leadership across the organization to ensure procurement, materials and logistics activities across all production centers and distribution points are conducted to meet customer service levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct, optimize, and coordinate full order cycle
  • Serve as a member of leadership team, providing guidance on both department and company level strategies and tactics
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure targets are achieved
  • Analyze all aspects of company logistics goal of increased efficiency and lead logistics planning, budgeting, and staffing decisions to enable department to reach goals
  • Create and maintain annual department budget
  • Assist in design, layout, and location of infrastructure
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and agreements with rail, barge and truck transportation partners
  • Resolve all problems and customer issues relating to delivered products
  • Comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, business, or similar discipline, and a minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • Graduate degree and APICS (CPIM/CSCP), ISM (CPSM), or CSCMP certification a plus
  • Experience developing and managing information systems that drive analysis and reporting of business performance metrics
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must possess strong communications skills and act in a professional manner when dealing with all levels of internal and external customers
  • Strong computer skills. Must be proficient in standard logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
